Alyssa Erickson-Wayman (BQA 2005)'s internship in the Kappe Lab at Seattle BioMed resulted in a publication: 

"Plasmodium pyruvate dehydrogenase activity is only essential for the parasite's progression from liver infection to blood infection", published in 2010 in Molecular Microbiology 75(4):957-971, by Y. Pei, A.S. Tarun, A.M. Vaughan, R.W. Herman, J.M. Soliman, A. Erickson-Wayman and S.H. Kappe.

Sarah Leyde (BQA 2005)'s internship in the White Lab at Seattle BioMed resulted in three publications:

"Azole drugs are imported by facilitated diffusion in Candida albicans and other pathogenic fungi", published in 2010 in PLoS Pathog. 6(9). pii: e1001126, by B.E. Mansfield BE, H.N. Oltean, B.G. Oliver, S.J. Hoot, S.E. Leyde, L. Hedstrom and T.C. White.

"Cytoplasmic localization of sterol transcription factors Upc2p and Ecm22p in S. cerevisiae", published in 2008 in Fungal Genetics and Biology 45(10):1430-8, by C. Marie, S. Leyde and T.C. White

"Tetracycline alters drug susceptibility in Candida albicans and other pathogenic fungi", published in 2008 in Microbiology 154(3):960-97 , by B.G. Oliver, C. Marie, S.J. Hoot, S.E. Leyde and T.C. White.

Melvin Donaldson (BQA 2005) has presented the results of his research at several meetings, including:

"Landscape evolution in the McMurdo dry valleys, Antarctica" at the 21st National Conference on Undergraduate Research  at the Dominincan University of California in San Rafael, CA on April 12-14, 2007.

"Regolith transport in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica" at the 10th International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Science, on August 27 - September 1st 2007 in Santa Barbara, CA.

"Design and construction of regulatory gene cassettes for muscle-specific gene expression and the treatment of muscular dystrophies" at the 11th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 16th, 2008.

Yongtian (Tina) Tan (BQA 2005) published "Pharmaceutical protections at the expense of life, blurring the lines: reality, fantasy and the internet" at the Harvard Science Review Fall 2006: Then and Now: 20 Years of Science 20(1).  

Tina also published "Chinese grassroots AIDS NGOs delivering services for AIDS orphans: opportunities and strategies." in the July 2008 Issue of AIDS Action - China Edition of HealthLink Worldwide, Volume 5.

In 2009 Tina launched VertiGrow— a Harvard student business organization dedicated to creating a community-owned, small businesses that designs, builds and distributes a vertical planting system to permit agriculture in urban slums for family owned micro-enterprises. Tina is a Principal officer at VertiGrow.

Eliot Chang (BQA 2005) presented  "Imidazole-based ionic liquids for use in PEMFCs: effect of eectron-withdrawing and electron-donating substituents" at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) 12th Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL on February 12-16, 2009.

Eliot was one of 18 undergraduate interns sponsored by the Department of Energy’s Office of Science to present their research in the AAAS Poster Session.

Priyanka Mensinkai (BQA 2005) presented "Dichotomy in biological motion perception: pigeons use feet local motion to determine direction" in the 3rd Annual Undergraduate Research Conference "Inquiry @ Queens", in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on March 5-6, 2009.

Catherine Louw (BQA 2005) presented "Enhancement of a computationally-designed enzyme: a contribution to the end of global warming" at the 13th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 21, 2010.

Kathryn Bacarro (BQA 2005) presented "Analysis of Aroma Profiles of Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora Robusta by Principal Component Analysis and GC-MS" at the Seattle University Undergraduate Research Association Celebration of Student Scholarship in Seattle, WA on May 20, 2011.

Sarah Bernards (BQA 2006) presented “Drn1, a novel debranching enzyme-associated nuclease with a role in intron turnover” at the 2008 Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology Meeting held at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 22–27, 2008.

Semonti Hossain (BQA 2006) published "Swallow-able solutions: pill-sized camera helps detect America’s fastest rising cancer"  in the March 7th, 2008 issue of The Daily of the University of Washington.

Semonti has also presented at several undegraduate meetings, including:

"Studies on the role of MAP Kinase-induced phosphorylation of  connexin 43 in the disruption of gap junctional communication by Platelet Derived Growth Factor" at the  11th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 16th, 2008.

"The effect of Platelet Derived Growth Factor on the protein involved in gap junction communication" was presented at the 2008  U. of Washington Honors Research Colloquium, in Seattle, WA.

"Unusually large synaptic boutons carry sensory information to the avian forebrain: specializations for rapid information transfer" was presented at the 14th U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 20th, 2011.

Alice Meng (BQA 2006) published her research entitled "Endomicroscopic two-photon luminescence imaging of cancer cells using molecularly targeted gold nanocages" via the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network REU Program in 2008.

Alice was also part of a team of six undergraduates from the schools of Engineering & Applied Science and Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis who took silver in the foundational advance category of the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition in 2010.

Joe Garagliano (BQA 2006) had his Senior Honor Thesis "In vitro assessment of tensile strength and rate of degradation of a novel absorbable surgical stable'  published in 2011 by Darmouth College.

Pratyusha Banik (BQA 2007) presented "Significance of nucleotide mismatches in microRNA processing" at the 14th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 20th, 2011.

Josh Neighbor (BQA 2007) presented "Müllerian body production by Cecropia obtusifolia (Cecropiaceae) with and without Azteca ants" at the 14th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 20th, 2011.

Rahul Brito (BQA 2008) presented  "Tuning Gene Expression Using Simple Sequence Repeats in Negative Feedback Circuits" at the 14th Annual U. of Washington Undergraduate Research Symposium in Seattle, WA on May 20th, 2011.
